Do I Really Need a Professional Organizer?

Do I Really Need a Professional Organizer?

I have said this before on my website, home is where we ultimately come at the end of the day. It is our resting spot, our charging station, and also a very intimate space that we only allow trusted people to enter, like our family and friends. It is our biggest asset- financially as well as emotionally!

Home is also a place we let go… but perhaps we let it go too much at times. Our lives revolve around our domicile and yet we all take it for granted. Think about it. Do we really respect our house as much as we did the office? The laundry piles up, and the bed is often unmade; we cannot find our passports or we struggle to put away our purchases. We don’t do that at our workplace, do we?

The question of whether to hire a Professional Organizer or not, is something you need to reflect upon yourself.

Here are some great points you should ponder upon to get your right answer

  • Do I find everything I need, when I need it?
  • Is my work station practical?
  • Do I have the inclination to transform my disorganized space into a fully flowing functional area?
  • Do I have the time and family’s support to dedicate to this transformation?
  • Does my transformed space stay organized for a longer time? Or does the space go back to square one?

If you have answered in negative to most of these questions then, I think, it is definitely worth bringing in some professional help.

I understand that it is a fairly new concept to have someone come in and organize for you. You may also think it is a passing trend or a fad. Or whether it is worth the money that you’d be spending. We always think of a budget and spending before we count the advantages.

So what does a Professional Organizer do for you?

As the name goes, the basic duty of a Professional Organizer is to simply organize your space for you! But that is not just it. There’s so much more. Let me briefly walk you through the works of a P.O.

As the client or the situation may demand, Professional Organizers will help reduce the number of items that accumulate in a space. They guide the clients on what items can be kept and what needs to go (trashed/ donated). Next, they will define the space as per the clients’ requirements by grouping items,  creating zones, adding accessories – all in order to deliver a seamlessly flowing organized space.

Most importantly, Professional Organizers ensure the space lives up to the clients’ expectations and meets their needs.

In a nutshell, this is a pretty standard scope of work that one can expect from P.O.s. Depending on the circumstances, P.O.s may take on additional work such as installation/ removal of shelves, rearranging furniture etc. Furthermore, there may be additional services that individual Professional Organizers offer to their clients. Some Professional Organizers work in teams while others may work independently, like me!

Most Professional Organizers are good at what they do. The right one should be able to organize for you and also give you the tools to sustain that organization for a longer period of time.

An organized space has many benefits. An assembled space not only looks beautiful and tidy but also sets a chain of action like

Lesser visual clutter leads to improved clarity and focus

Everything has a place and is easy to find leading to faster work pace

Swift working tempo equates to boosted productivity

Ultimately, relief and peace of mind

It is sometimes best to let a professional handle stuff than go through the hassles of doing it ourselves. Sure, it costs more financially, however the worth of getting it done is much bigger than employing personal time and efforts without complete know-how or the resources.

If the idea of being and staying organized is something that appeals to you (and it should!), it is definitely the time to start looking into hiring that much needed help!

Stay safe, stay organized!
